Flowers from our students

February at its best - Narcissus, Hellbores and Mimosa

Last week our February Career Course students produced some stunning work. We kicked things off moderately on Monday with planted seasonal bulbs and succulent terrariums before getting braver on Tuesday with hand tied bouquets.

It's fair to say that week one is a huge stretch and the amount the students learn in such a short space of time is amazing. From hand tied bouquets, to oasis work and vase arrangements, there's a different technique to learn everyday and we end the week with the largest scale arrangements - the sympathy spray.

Here at Tallulah Rose, we have a bit of a unique approach to sympathy flowers. We put the same passion into our floral selection as our bridal flowers and create truly beautiful arrangements that reflect the season.

Spring Term

We're ready to take our seats!
With only 5 days to go until we welcome our next Career Course students we are getting super excited in the school rooms. We can't wait to meet our newest recruits and see them flourish as they embark on their very own flower journeys.

We always get that 'back to school' feeling right before a new course, the school rooms get a good spruce up ready for our new guests and we we may even treat ourselves to a new pencil case (because you are NEVER too old for that...right?).

We are also thrilled to be joined by our new intern Gracie for this course and can't wait to have a new flower entusiast on board. We've made some exciting changes to the 2014 course and can't wait to share pictures of some beautiful new designs. We're also thrilled to be working with some super talented British flower growers this term and will be taking our students on a tour of Covent Garden Flower Market so it's sure to be a busy month...watch this space!

Business Week

We've kicked off Week Three of our November career course with the all important business branding.

Our students have spent the last two weeks obsessing over floral design. They've been practising and practising their hand tie technique, getting to grips with large scale oasis work and intricate detailed wiring.

All things bright and beautiful

A simply stunning use of bold colour from October student Mary

As I sit here in the office, the rain lashing at the windows and the grey clouds creeping over the City of Bath, these images of Mary's beautiful final designs are perking me up! Mary came to us at the beginning of the month preferring natural tonal colours and three weeks later she's leaving with the confidence to create stunningly bold designs such as this bridal bouquet. We salute your bravery Mary.

Hearts full of hope and heads full of dreams

From the left: Marie, Judith and Amy - our September Class

Last Friday was Day 20 of our September Career Course and the last day of flowering for the three students that have been with us for the past month. Amy, Judith and Marie came to us at the beginning of September, we posted the results of Day One - a potted Orchid, and within a month we have watched their individual style and talent flourish.

As with all of of Career Courses, the final week end with the student's own freestyle designs. They are given the freedom to plan, design and budget for three bridal pieces. We love to see the progress the students have made and this is their time to showcase just what they can do on their own.

We adore the flowering mint in Marie's wild meadow style bridal bouquet

The striking hot pink Piano Rose takes centre stage in Judith's bouquet

Colour clash perfection with these peach Mis Piggy Roses and the muted Mentha Rose

So it was with hearts full of hope and heads full of dreams for their new businesses that our students left us last week. We wish them every success for their future and can't wait to see where their businesses take them.

Our next course begins on the 4th of November and you can find more information via our website: www.tallulahroseflowers.com

Fireside flowers

Earlier in the week our career course students packed up their scissors for a floral styling day on location at the rather fabulous Royal Crescent Hotel, here in Bath.

After a whimsical walk along one of the most famous crescents in the world, the challenge was set - to dress a Georgian fireplace in one of the hotel's opulent Drawing rooms.

Teamwork - getting to grips with scale and height

With a vibrant mix of Hydrangea, Delphiniums, Dahlias, Veronica and lots of scented silver-green Eucalyptus the students set about creating their largest arrangement yet. Being wedding week, it's important that our students get practical experience of creating all types of wedding work - from the most intricate buttonholes and flower crowns to various techniques of bridal bouquets, large table centres, candelabras and fireplaces.

The finished fireside...perfect for it's opulent surroundings

A colourful start to our week

So, we kicked off week two of our September career course on Monday with an explosion of colour...if the students weren't awake when they came in, they certainly were when they left!

A classic hand tie with a colourful twist

It's bridal week this week and the students will be tackling a range of bridal bouquets using the most up to date and on trend techniques.

Monday was all about vibrant colour...not for your classic bride, but we are seeing more and more brides choosing to introduce bright colour pops to their day so we thought we'd challenge the students to create the brightest bouquets they could and get to grips with colour. We hope they brighten up your day too.

Bold colours and unusual shapes create a Monday morning challenge

What's inspiring us today...

There seemed to be a chill in the air today as I walked through the rather lovely Victoria Park, coffee in one hand and small sausage dog in the other!

With the last few days of the Tallulah Rose school holidays lingering, we've turned our thoughts to Autumn colour palettes and cannot wait to inject some natural materials and fire like colours into our students's designs during the September Career Course which starts on Monday.

So here's what's inspiring Amy from Team Tallulah today - watch out for fern greens and golden yellows over the coming weeks as we officially step into Autumn...
