Festive Flowers

A close up of the beautiful fireplace garland at the Royal Crescent Hotel
We hope you managed to tune in to our 'Deck the Halls' event at the Royal Crescent Hotel last week, where Rona of Flowerona was live tweeting as we went! We had an amazing day dressing the iconic hotel for Christmas and our past students did us proud with all their hard work. Their work was stunning and by the evening the hotel had been transformed by flora and candlelight. Thanks to all those involved, too many to mention by name here, but all very much appreciated!

We're back at the hotel on Tuesday 3rd December with our Festive Flower Masterclass led by Director Rachel. If you fancy the idea of learning how to create your own festive flowers we still have limited places available. You can see our website for details or simply drop us a line at hello@tallulahroseflowers.com and we'll get back to you straight away.

Deck the Halls

We are so excited today as operation 'Deck the Halls' kicked off at the Royal Crescent Hotel here in our very own beautiful city of Bath.

A few months ago we invited our past students to help us dress the hotel for Christmas and the response was so overwhelming - we are thrilled that people have travelled far and wide to get involved today. It's the first time we've opened up our extra curricular activities to our graduates and it's just so lovely to see everybody working on a very special project together.

We are busily tweeting about the day and this afternoon, Rona Wheeldon of Flowerona will be joining us and live tweeting from the hotel. If you'd like to keep up with the day's events and see all the wonderful flowers that will be decking the halls you can find us on Twitter @tallulahrosey and follow the hashtag #deckthehalls for our live feed.

Wedding styling

So, on Monday we gave you the heads up on some of our extra curricular activities this week and we thought it was about time we let you in on some of the details.

A whimsical garden bouquet of hydrangea, roses, astrantia, senico and berried eucalyptus

Our bridal stylist Amy skipped off to the Royal Crescent Hotel to take part in a pretty styled shoot in the hotel and gardens. Luckily the skies stayed blue and despite a tiny downpour much fun was had generally frolicking around with flowers! Here are a few of our favourite early shots form the shoot but we promise to post more of the best bits once the full set of photos are edited.

With another styled wedding shoot scheduled for next week we can promise you more loveliness on the blog over the next few weeks.

Extra curricular activities...

It's all in the details...
As some of you might know, we don't sit on our laurels at the flower school, but are always involved in something or other outside of the school room. We can't help it...it just kind of happens!

So tomorrow our very own bridal stylist Amy is heading to the Royal Crescent Hotel to create a beautiful regency styled shoot. Working with some of the best local wedding experts, Amy will be creating some gorgeous flowers and providing on location styling advice. We'll capture and share some 'behind the scenes' shots as it all unfolds tomorrow so check back in an see how it went.

A beautiful Georgian setting will provide the backdrop to the shoot

Fireside flowers

Earlier in the week our career course students packed up their scissors for a floral styling day on location at the rather fabulous Royal Crescent Hotel, here in Bath.

After a whimsical walk along one of the most famous crescents in the world, the challenge was set - to dress a Georgian fireplace in one of the hotel's opulent Drawing rooms.

Teamwork - getting to grips with scale and height

With a vibrant mix of Hydrangea, Delphiniums, Dahlias, Veronica and lots of scented silver-green Eucalyptus the students set about creating their largest arrangement yet. Being wedding week, it's important that our students get practical experience of creating all types of wedding work - from the most intricate buttonholes and flower crowns to various techniques of bridal bouquets, large table centres, candelabras and fireplaces.

The finished fireside...perfect for it's opulent surroundings

Back to school...

So, today we got to use our long awaited new school bags and skipped into school in our shiny new pumps - well maybe just in our heads, but there was a real 'back to school' vibe amongst Team Tallulah this morning as we welcomed two new groups of students.

In the school room, we kicked off our September career course with a group of five budding new florists. More about them later this week. We cannot wait to watch them blossom over the next four weeks and are looking forward to sharing some of their work with you.

Over at the Royal Crescent Hotel we also welcomed a group of six Japanese students who spent the day dressing the hotel with stunning floral arrangements. Here's a sample of just some of their work today, our thoughts were transported to a whimsical English country garden and hope you are too!
