New horizons...

We're busy packing up our old school room this week ahead of the big move into our shiny new premises on Friday! The flower school is going from strength to strength and the new school room will enable us to help more students and also run more of our popular day courses.

We have just launched our Spring 2014 Day Course timetable so if you've been wanting to come and play with flowers with us, why not take a peek and see if there's something you like the sound of. We are also now offering a gift vouchers service in time for Christmas which you can redeem against any of our courses so if you need to drop some serious hints - here's the link you'll need!

We hope to see you soon, Team Tallulah x

All things bright and beautiful

A simply stunning use of bold colour from October student Mary

As I sit here in the office, the rain lashing at the windows and the grey clouds creeping over the City of Bath, these images of Mary's beautiful final designs are perking me up! Mary came to us at the beginning of the month preferring natural tonal colours and three weeks later she's leaving with the confidence to create stunningly bold designs such as this bridal bouquet. We salute your bravery Mary.

Kindred flower folk

The most beautiful poppy in the school room

This weekend we met some kindred flower folk - all with dreams and ambitions to start their own flower journey and maybe take a course with Tallulah Rose. What struck me was that although each and every person who came along to listen to me talk about the flower school had very different stories to tell, we were all bound together by a complete and overwhelming passion for flowers.

For the flower growers

Image via our Pinterest Board: Inspiring us Today.

With the weather turning cold and winter well on the way, today we're all about the flower growers. The people who lovingly sow, nurture and grow our beautiful blooms in all weathers, the people who have dirt under their nails and frosty ground under their feet, the people who are passionate about keeping it British.

We are so lucky in the UK to have some amazing flower growers and Team Tallulah are planning a tour of some of the best next Spring. In the meantime, think of those flower growers as the days get shorter and the nights draw in and next time you buy your blooms, ask your florist where they're from...you never know, they might be closer to home than you think.

Here are some of our favourite flower growers, check out their websites and bring a bit of British cheer to your weekend

Rachel's Story

As it's Friday - possibly the last day of another gruelling week in the office we thought we'd share a snippet of Rachel's story with you today in the hope that it might inspire you to think about your own dreams and ambitions.

Like many, after a long London centric career, Rachel was tired of the pace of city life and wanted to make a big change. A move to the city of Bath, one tiny flower shop and an awful lot of hard work later, the seeds of Tallulah Rose were planted.

Rachel's top tip for anyone starting out on their own:

"Don't be afraid to ask for help or guidance from those around you. Don't think that because you are small business, you have to take everything on yourself. You will be amazed at how many people around you want to offer their help and support, use it. Those early days can be hard, really hard and having a friend or mentor to talk to will make a real difference".

Hearts full of hope and heads full of dreams

From the left: Marie, Judith and Amy - our September Class

Last Friday was Day 20 of our September Career Course and the last day of flowering for the three students that have been with us for the past month. Amy, Judith and Marie came to us at the beginning of September, we posted the results of Day One - a potted Orchid, and within a month we have watched their individual style and talent flourish.

As with all of of Career Courses, the final week end with the student's own freestyle designs. They are given the freedom to plan, design and budget for three bridal pieces. We love to see the progress the students have made and this is their time to showcase just what they can do on their own.

We adore the flowering mint in Marie's wild meadow style bridal bouquet

The striking hot pink Piano Rose takes centre stage in Judith's bouquet

Colour clash perfection with these peach Mis Piggy Roses and the muted Mentha Rose

So it was with hearts full of hope and heads full of dreams for their new businesses that our students left us last week. We wish them every success for their future and can't wait to see where their businesses take them.

Our next course begins on the 4th of November and you can find more information via our website: www.tallulahroseflowers.com
